Seventh-seeded Stanford looks to pull off the upset against second-seeded Clemson in the college soccer ACC Tournament.
The ACC Tournament rolls on in college soccer with second-seeded Clemson (12-2-3) looking to advance in the first quarterfinal match of the weekend. They take on seventh-seeded Stanford (9-4-4) in its first season in the conference. The winner of this match between the Tigers and Cardinal will advance to the semifinals to take on the winner of the third quarterfinal between 11th seeded California and third-seeded Duke. In the final rankings of the regular season the Tigers were ranked seventh while the Cardinal were on the outside looking in, but received votes with how well they closed out the season. The Tigers have their eyes on another conference championship and national championship finish to the season.

Last season the Tigers claimed their fifth conference championship and their fourth national championship. The Tigers have been one of the best teams in the country this decade with two conference and two national championships.
In the quarterfinals the Tigers cruised to a 3-1 win over 15th seeded Louisville extending their lossless streak to eight straight matches. After a scoreless first half the Tigers exploded for three goals from Joran Gerbet (46:18), Alex Meinhard (57:24) and Remi Okunlola (59:23).
For the Cardinal they survived a thriller against 10th seeded Notre Dame. In the win the Cardinal trailed early before Jackson Kiil (33:30) tied the match and Will Reilly (84:54) gave them the lead. Another goal from the Fighting Irish in the final minute put a scare in the Cardinal before Dylan Hooper scored with 89:59 on the clock for the win.
