No. 8 Michigan (10-5-1) looks to bounce back from its first two Big Ten Conference losses of the season when it hosts Wisconsin (6-9-1) on Friday night to open a two-game Big Ten series at Yost Ice Arena in Ann Arbor. The Wolverines have played in the last three Frozen Fours and four straight NCAA tournaments with their last national championship coming in 1998. The Badgers returned to the NCAA tournament last season for the first time since 2021 and last won the national title in 2006.

Wisconsin picked up four points at home last weekend against then-No. 1 Michigan State, winning a 4-0 decision on Dec. 6 before falling 3-2 in overtime on Saturday night. The Badgers are 4-6-0 in Big Ten play with 15 points, with four of their losses coming in overtime. Quinn Finley leads the offense with 11 goals and 20 points, while Tommy Scarfone is 5-5-1 in 11 starts in goal with a .910 save percentage and a 2.24 goals-against average.
Michigan was blanked in a weekend set at then-No. 4 Minnesota, losing 6-0 on Dec. 6 and taking a 2-0 shutout loss on Saturday night to fall to 4-2-0 in conference play with 11 points. Michael Hage’s nine goals and 17 points are team highs, while Logan Stein has started eight games and appeared in 10, posting a 6-3-0 record with an .897 save percentage and 2.96 GAA.
The Wolverines lead the all-time series 90-69-14, but Wisconsin took three of the four meetings last season. The Badgers swept two games at home from Nov. 3-4, 2023 by scores of 5-4 and 2-1 before splitting a Jan.26-27 set in Ann Arbor, losing the first 5-1 and taking the second in overtime 6-5. Coach Brandon Naurato is in his third year at Michigan with a 59-32-7 record. At Wisconsin, second-year coach Mike Hastings is 32-21-3.
