Boston College was down big 3-1 in the second period but rallied back late in the period to tie the game. Neither team scored in the third to send the game into overtime. Mike Posma got the Eagles back within one goal and then Gabe Perreault scored within less than a minute to tie the game. A big key of the game was the Eagles’ penalty kill going a perfect 5-for-5 in not allowing a power play goal. Getting out of the penalty box though will be a big key to stay perfect at home tonight.
Freshman Mirko Buttazzonni was the big standout for the No. 14/13 River Hawks scoring two goals in the game. That included the first one and the first goal of the second period to put UMass-Lowell up two goals in the middle of the second. Girts Silkalns scored his first ever goal to give the River Hawks the lead again late in the first period. The shootout victory came from senior Owen Cole for the extra point. The River Hawks can’t afford to let up late again if they are going to pull off this upset on the road.
