The top-ranked Denver Pioneers take on the Northeastern Huskies in the finale of their two-game series on Saturday night. The Pioneers got the best of the Huskies on Friday in the opener 5-2. Carter King scored the first goal of the game just 5:16 into the first period and the Pioneers would never trail. Jake Fisher made it 2-0 early in the second period and despite giving up a goal to cut their lead to one, the Pioneers would answer back with a goal a minute and a half later from Sam Harris to regain the two-goal lead. Jared Wright would add a goal in the second period and Samu Salminen scored early in the third to put the Pioneers up 5-1. It was a dominant win for the Pioneers and pushed their record to 3-0 on the season. They have now outscored their opponents 15-5 in their three wins.

The loss dropped the Huskies to 1-1 on the season. They had beat Stonehill in their first game of the year last Saturday. They won that game convincingly as they scored five goals in the rout.
Cam Lund and Dylan Hryckowian scored the goals for the Huskies on Friday nightin the first game of the series. It was the first goal of the season for both players.
