No. 13 Boston University takes on Notre Dame in Belfast for the Belpot Cup in the Friendship Four championship game
After dominant wins on Friday, No. 13 Boston University (7-5-1) and Notre Dame (6-9-0) face off on Saturday at The SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland, in the championship game of the Friendship Four tournament. It is the Terriers’ second trip to the event after losing the championship game to Union in 2018, while the Fighting Irish are in Belfast for the first time. The tournament was held yearly from 2015-19 and returning in 2022, with the 2024 edition the seventh edition. It is set to return next season as well.

Boston University scored twice in 1:16 in the first period and added shorthanded goal later in the opening 20 minutes to take a 3-2 lead and put the game away with three more tallies in the third to beat Merrimack 6-2 on Friday in a game that counted in the Hockey East standings. Tristan Amonte scored twice in the win. Cole Eiserman leads the team with nine goals while Shane Lachance has 14 points with six goals. Mathieu Caron is 6-4-1 in net with an .897 save percentage and 3.22 goals-against average.
Blake Biondi scored both of his goals in the first period as Notre Dame took a 3-0 lead en route to a 5-2 victory over Harvard in its semifinal on Friday. Biondi added an assist and Cole Knuble and Justin Janicke each had a goal and a helper. Knuble leads the Irish with seven goals and 16 points. Owen Say is 5-5-0 in 10 starts, recording a .927 save percentage and 2.65 GAA.
Notre Dame is 9-7-2 against Boston University, with the most recent meetings in South Bend last season resulting in a split. The Fighting Irish won the first game 4-1 on Oct. 20, 2023, before BU responded with an 8-2 win in the second game the following day.
