UMass (8-6-2) snapped a seven-game losing streak to No. 13 Boston University (8-6-1) on Saturday in Boston and on Wednesday night welcomes the Terriers to the Mullins Center looking to complete a Hockey East home-and-home sweep. BU is tied for fifth in the conference at 4-3-1 with 14 points, while the Minutemen are in an eighth place tie with a 2-4-2 mark and nine points. The Terriers have played in the last two Frozen Fours, while UMass was also an NCAA tournament team last season.

Michael Hrabal made 32 saves on Saturday to spearhead a 4-0 Minutemen victory. Ryan Lautenbach opened the scoring at 4:25 of the first period before UMass added power play goals from Daniel Jenčko, Lucas Olvestad and Kenny Connors. Lucas Mercuri finished with three assists. Aydar Suniev leads the team with nine goals and Cole O’Hara has seven tallies among his 22 points. Hrabal is 8-5-2 in 15 starts with a .920 save percentage and 2.37 goals-against average.
Boston University killed just four of seven power-play chances, allowing the game to get away, and lost defenseman Cole Hutson in the first period and forward Brandon Svodoba in the second to game misconduct ejections after major penalties. Cole Eiserman leads the team with nine goals and Shance Lachance has 17 points with seven goals. Mathieu Caron is 7-5-1 in 13 starts with an .897 save percentage and 3.26 GAA.
The Terriers have dominated the all-time series with a 71-14-9 mark. Last season, BU scored a 5-2 win at UMass on Oct. 27, 2023 and won a shootout 4-3 at home the following night. Coach Jay Pandolfo is in his third season behind the Terrier bench with a 65-27-3 record. Greg Carvel has led the Minutemen since 2016 and is 157-125-22 in his ninth year.
