American International visits Holy Cross on Friday night in a rematch of last year’s Atlantic Hockey Conference tournament semifinal round.
On Friday night, there’s a playoff rematch in the Atlantic Hockey conference as American International (1-5-1, 1-1-0 AHA) visits Holy Cross (3-6-0, 2-2-0 AHA) at Hart Center Rink in Worcester. Last year these teams met in the semifinal round of the conference tournament. That series went the full three games – after second seed Holy Cross won the first game, fifth seed American International won back-to-back games to pull off the upset. American International ended up losing to top seed RIT in the conference championship game.

So far this year, Holy Cross has played .500 in the conference. Last week though the Crusaders played a couple of non-conference games at home. They lost to UMass Lowell 5-4 in overtime on Friday, then 3-0 to Quinnipiac on Saturday.
Holy Cross is led by junior forward Matt DeBoer. DeBoer has seven points in nine games. Senior Thomas Gale has gotten every start in net for the Crusaders, and currently has a 2.69 goals against average and 91.5% save percentage.
AIC played just one non-conference game last weekend. The Yellowjackets dropped a closer 4-3 game to UMass. The last time the Yellowjackets played conference games was two weeks ago, when they had a win and overtime loss at home against Air Force.
Junior forward John Lundy is the Yellowjackets’ offensive leader, with five points (one goal, four assists) in seven games. Junior Chase Clark has started five of seven games in net, while sophomore Peyton Grainer has started two.
