The first round of the 2024 East Lake Cup brings the best individuals and teams in college golf to Georgia on Monday.
Since 2015 the East Lake Cup has been one of the biggest tournaments in college golf. The tournament takes place on the East Lake Golf Course in Atlanta, Georgia. This course is also the home of The TOUR Championship, the final event of the season on the PGA Tour featuring the top 30 players in the FedEx Cup. The defending champions, UNC for the men and Wake Forest for the women, are not in the field for 2024, setting up the opportunity for a new champion this year. This year the field features Auburn, Florida State, Georgia Tech and Ohio State in the men’s field, with LSU, Oregon, UCLA and USC in the women’s field.

The East Lake Cup opens up with 18 holes of stroke play to not only set the seedings for team play, but also to determine the men’s and women’s individual champions. From there the teams will play out the rest of the East Lake Cup to determine the 2024 champions for the men’s and women’s teams.
This year’s field of teams might be the most impressive in the 10 years of play here at the East Lake Cup. These are eight of the top teams in the country and seven of the eight semifinalists in the NCAA national championship from earlier this season.
The most dominant school in this event over the years have been the Trojans, specifically in the women’s tournament. They won the tournament in 2015, 2017 and 2018. Over the years future stars of the game have played in the East Lake Cup, with Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland winning the individual championship.
