Penn State’s revamped coaching staff leads the Nittany Lions through their annual spring game on Saturday.
On Saturday Beaver Stadium will be packed once again, as Penn State holds its annual spring game to wrap up spring practices. This will be the first chance fans get to see a team led by new-look coaching staff under head coach James Franklin, who is entering his 11th season with the program. Over the offseason, the team replaced all three coordinators. On offense they hired Andy Kotelnicki, who was the OC for the last three years at Kansas. In those second two seasons, the Jayhawks ranked 21st and then 17th in the nation in scoring, after a ranking of 111th the year Kotelnicki took over.

Kotelnicki will try to get the most out of Drew Allar, who had a solid season in his first year as Penn State’s starter in 2023 but didn’t quite live up to the lofty expectations that come with being a five-star prospect and one of the top three overall prospects in his class.
Tom Allen takes over as Penn State’s defensive coordinator, after spending the last seven seasons as the head coach at Indiana. He replaces Manny Diaz, who left to be the head coach at Duke after two seasons in University Park.
Justin Lustig joins the staff as the special teams coordinator. He previously worked on the special teams coaching staff at Vanderbilt.
