On Friday night, No. 4 Duke will host No. 1 UNC in their final ACC conference matchup under the lights at Williams Field at Jack Katz Stadium. The Blue Devils are currently on a seven-game win streak with the most recent being a narrow 1-0 win over No. 9 Boston College last week to bring their overall record to 11-4 and their conference record to 6-1 for a spot in second place in the standings. Alaina McVeigh scored her 10th goal of the season just after the second half began to give the Blue Devils a 1-0 lead. Strong defense paired with stellar goalkeeping from Frederique Wollaert’s two saves allowed the team to put three points toward its tally and collect its sixth straight shutout, its ninth overall.

The Tar Heels are undefeated on the season with an overall record of 14-0 and a conference record of 7-0 to hold the top spot in the ACC standings. UNC also played Boston College its last time out, but finished the game with a dominant 4-0 victory at home. Kelly Smith, Ryleigh Heck, Jasmina Smolenaars and Sanne Hak each found the back of the cage to elevate the Tar Heels past the Eagles. Abigail Taylor held strong in net, making four saves to help her team earn its ninth clean sheet of the season. UNC has only conceded five goals all season due in large part to Taylor’s strong play in the cage.
After the teams play in the regular season finale, they will look forward to the ACC Championships which will take place next week. UNC will hope to make it back to the NCAA championship where they finished as runners up in 2023.
