Postseason play will begin for Duke and Wake Forest on Tuesday afternoon as the teams meet in the quarterfinal round of the ACC Tournament.
Seventh-seeded Wake Forest is hosting the ACC Tournament this year and on Tuesday afternoon will kick off postseason play against second-seeded Duke at home. The Demon Deacons finished off regular season play with an overall record of 7-10 and a conference record of 2-6, earning them the final spot in the tournament. The team’s last time on the field was on Friday night, again at home, against Virginia. The game resulted in a 2-1 double overtime victory for Virginia, but Wake Forest battled until the end. The Cavaliers scored in the first ten minutes of play, but Faye Janse came out of the locker room following halftime and scored within the first minute to tie things up. The game remained even until the final two minutes of overtime when Virginia was able to put away the game winner. The Demon Deacons held their own, however, and should not be counted out against Duke.

The Blue Devils have played well this season and finished conference play with a record of 6-2 to finish right behind UNC. Overall, the team finished 11-5 with all five of the losses coming against ranked opponents. The team’s most recent game was played against the Blue Devils’ cross-state rivals, the UNC Tar Heels, and resulted in a 5-2 loss at home. Jospehine Palde and Alaina McVeigh were the goal scorers for the Blue Devils, but the team was unable to make up the deficit that a strong UNC offense provided for its team. Frederique Wollaert was challenged early and often in the cage and made four saves in the loss.
When Wake Forest and Duke met during the regular season, the Blue Devils earned a 2-0 win in Winston-Salem. Goals were scored by Charlie van Oirschot and Brynn Crouse.
