Louisville’s pitching staff was masterful in that game. Senior starter Jared Poland allowed just two hits in seven innings, allowing only one run. Junior Michael Prosecky handled the two innings of relief and picked up his 10th save of the year, which ranks second in the ACC.
As Virginia looked for a better offensive performance in the second game, it will turn to sophomore infielder Jake Gelof. Gelof has been one of the ACC’s best bats this season; with his .388 batting average, he ranks third in the conference, is second in RBIs with 71 and is sixth in home runs with 18.
Friday’s pitching matchup features a pair of lefties in Cardinals senior Carter Lohman and Cavs junior Nate Savino. Lohman is 1-1 this year with a 3.45 ERA, while Savino is 4-5 with a 4.21 and has 67 strikeouts in 62 innings.
It’ll be an afternoon first pitch from Louisville, with the game scheduled to start at 4 p.m. ET. You can catch the action on ACC Network.
