The Rebels stayed clean through their regional after beating Arizona 7-4 in their first game, Miami 2-1 in their second game and Arizona again in game three with an astounding score of 22-6.
Southern Miss had a slightly more difficult time in the regional tournament when it found itself in the loser’s bracket. After beating Army in game one 2-0, Southern Miss lost game two to LSU 7-6 in a tight, ten-inning game. The Golden Eagles won, beating Kennesaw State 4-3 in ten innings and LSU in the last two games with scores of 8-4 and 8-7, respectively.
With both teams showing a lot of strength in postseason play so far, today’s first game could go in either team’s favor. These two teams have played each other often over the years and the last time they met, Ole Miss won 4-1.
