Florida had a busy weekend last week in the NCAA Regional round. After beating Nebraska 5-2 to open the weekend, the Gators lost 7-1 to Oklahoma State on Saturday. On Sunday, Florida opened the day with a 17-11 win over Nebraska to set up a rematch with Oklahoma State, with the Gators needing to win both games. They did, with 5-2 and 4-2 wins.
Clemson went 3-0 in the regional round, beating High Point 4-3, and then taking down Coastal Carolina twice, winning 4-3 and 12-5. Alden Mathes and Jacob Hinderleider both drove in three runs in that final win of the weekend. Clemson’s scoring was steady all game until a six-run eighth inning to blow the game open.
Which of these schools will get the Game 1 victory on Saturday? Game 2 is set for Sunday, while a win-or-go-home Game 3 would take place on Monday between these two teams.
