    Miyo Yoshida is out for revenge as she defends her IBF bantamweight title against Shurretta Metcalf on Wednesday.

    Miyo Yoshida (17-4) defends her IBF bantamweight title for the first time on Wednesday night when she takes on Shurretta Metcalf (13-4-1, 2 KOs) at The Theater inside Madison Square Garden in a fight scheduled for 10 two-minute rounds. Yoshida won the title from Ebanie Bridges on Dec. 9 in San Francisco via a 10-round unanimous decision, a little more than a month after losing the vacant INF Inter-Continental bantamweight belt to Metcalf in Manhattan on Nov. 7. That was Metcalf’s last fight and she comes in with three straight victories.

    Leading the undercard on the five-card event is a super featherweight bout scheduled for 10 rounds between Edward Vazquez (16-2, 3 KO) and Kenneth Taylor (14-3-2, 6 KO). Vazquez took an eight-round unanimous decision from Daniel Bailey in Houston on May 3 while Taylor comes off a majority-decision loss in eight rounds to Victor Hernandez in Biloxi, Mississippi, on April 26.

    Also scheduled for eight rounds are heavyweights Jerry Forrest (27-6-2, 20 KOs) and Earl Newman (10-3-1, 7 KOs). Forrest won an eight-round unanimous decision over Robert Hall Jr. in Richmond, Virginia, on Sept. 15, 2023. Newman lost his last three fights, most recently a 10-round unanimous decision to Deon Nicholson in Biloxi on Feb. 1, 2020.

    In the super lightweight division, unbeaten Mykquan Williams (21-0-2, 10 KOs) takes on Lavisis Williams (10-1-1, 3 KOs) in a scheduled eight-rounder. Mykquan Williams scored a TKO over Willmank Canonico in Verona, New York, at 2:57 of the third round on June 7. Lavisis Williams, meanwhile, comes off a four-round unanimous decision over Kelvin Kibler in Rock Hill, South Carolina, on April 20.

    The card opens with a six-round light heavyweight battle between Konrad Kaczmarkiewicz (7-1-1, 3 KOs) and Khainell Wheeler (7-5, 6 KOs).
