The Buffalo Sabres go for three wins in a row after losing three in a row when they host the Calgary flames early Saturday afternoon.
The Buffalo Sabres came out with a vengeance in their last game by absolutely dominating their in-state rivals winning 6-1 against the New York Rangers on Thursday. The game got so out of hand very quickly for New York that the team pulled goalie Igor Shesterkin in the second period after allowing five goals. This performance came just a game after Shesterkin was the third star of the game against the New York Islanders making 35 saves and only giving up two goals in the win. Sometimes you just have a bad night. And boy did Buffalo take advantage. There were six Sabres that scored on the night with New York not getting a goal until early in the third period. Buffalo had just 22 shots on the game but the tone was set incredibly early when Rasmus Dahlin scored for the Sabres just 26 seconds into the game. It was all downhill from there for the Rangers as Buffalo scored four in the second period to easily put the game away. Zach Benson was the first star of the game with the final goal of the game on the power play and he added an assist.

The Flames meanwhile are trying to bounce back from a tough 4-3 loss in overtime on the road to the Boston Bruins. Brad Marchand was the first star of the game with the goal in extras. The goal was really a beauty except if you’re a Flames fan. Marchand scored with just 20 seconds left in OT on a backhand off his own rebound.
The game looked out of reach after Boston scored two goals in the third period but Calgary got within one in less than a minute into the third when Yegor Sharangovich scored on the power play. Nazem Kadri tied the game about 10 minutes later but the complete comeback wasn’t in the cards. The good news for Calgary is that it is only three points off the lead in the Pacific which is currently a two-team tie between Vegas and Los Angeles.
