The top seed out of Group B is at stake on Tuesday when unbeatens Sweden and Czechia face off in Ottawa
Sweden, the silver medalist at the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship on home ice in Gothenberg, Sweden, takes on Czechia, last year’s bronze medalist, in a battle of unbeatens to determine the top seed out of Group B at this year’s event. The game is set for TD Place in Ottawa. The two sides have played up to their billing for the most part, with the Czechs outscoring their three opponents 23-5 while the Swedes have won their three games by a combined 20-8 margin.

Eduard Sale scored twice as Czechia held off Slovakia 4-2 on Sunday. Vojtech Hradec and Pavel Simek netted first-period goals for the Czechs and Matej Mastalirsky assisted on two of the goals. Michael Hrabal made 25 saves to get the win in net. Hradek and Jakub Stancl share the tournament scoring lead with seven points, each with four goals.
Sweden built a 6-1 lead after two periods on Sunday before needing to hold off a furious rally in a 7-5 victory over winless Switzerland. Tom Willander had two goals and an assist while Axel Sandin Pellikka netted a goal and helped out on two others in the win. Sandin Pellikka also has four goals and seven points to share the tournament lead.
Sweden has two gold medals at the World Junior Championship, taking the top honor in both 1981 and 2012. Czechia also had two goals in WJC play, going back-to-back in 2000-01 while playing as the Czech Republic.
