With this many upsets already from the U.S. Open, the tournament only promises more drama in the Quarterfinals on Tuesday.
This isn’t the U.S. Open many were expected as we move into the final rounds from the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. Novak Djokovic seemed primed to win throw out the record books and win his 25th major title. Djokovic was coming off a gold medal in the Paris Olympics and was an easy favorite sitting nice with a second seed. That was until he ran into No. 28 seed Alexei Popyrin in the third round losing in four sets. This was just a day after Carlos Alcaraz fell out of the tournament marking his earliest exit of the U.S. Open. That is not to mention that the defending champ and No. 3 seed Coco Gauff fell to No. 13 seed Emma Navarro. Even with these shocking upsets, this tournament promises to provide plenty of intrigue.

Navarro moves on to the quarters to play Paula Badosa who dominated in two sets in her previous match against Wang Yafan. The presence of the Americans continues to be a big factor in these later rounds on the men’s side as well with Frances Tiafoe moving on to play No. 9 seed Grigor Dimitrov after beating Popyrin in a match he never trailed in. Tiafoe made it to the semifinals two years ago. Can he recreate that magic on Tuesday?
