Nelly Korda and Team USA take a 6-2 lead in the Solheim Cup heading into the second day.
The Solheim Cup in Gainesville, Virginia, will continue into day two of three today with the last round of foursome and fourball tournaments happening today before they get into singles matches on Sunday. Team US hasn’t won a Solheim Cup since 2017 with Team Europe winning in 2019, 2021, and 2023. On the first day, Team USA came away with the win in both foursomes and fourball winning 6-2. In the foursomes, they beat Europe 3-1. Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz of Team USA took on Europe’s Esther Henseleit and Charley Hull pulling off the win 3 and 2. Rose Zhang and Lauren Coughlin pulled out another 3 and 2 win against Celine Boutier and Albane Valenzuela of Team Europe. Europe won its first match with Emily Pedersen and Maja Stark winning two up against Alley Ewing and Jennifer Kupcho. Team USA’s Lilia Vu and Sarah Schmelzel held down the foursomes win with a 3 and 2 win against Europe’s Linn Grant and Carlota Ciganda. Team USA led heading into fourball in the afternoon yesterday.

In fourball, they also won 3-1. Korda and Megan Khang won by a score of 6-4 in the first group. Anna Nordqvist and Madelene Sagstrom took away the only win for Team Europe in the second group 6-5 beating Alison Lee and Lexi Thompson. Coughlin and Schmelzel won the third group 3-2 over Pedersen and Stark.
The last group of the day was Andrea Lee and Rose Zhang taking home the 5-4 win over Europe’s Linn Grant and Hull. It was a great day for Team USA looking to keep going strong into round two hoping to bring home their first Solheim Cup since 2017.
