The United States got to this spot by defeating Great Britain 17-7. Team USA finished sixth during the Tokyo Olympics after Great Britain knocked them out in the quarterfinals.
New Zealand is the reigning gold medal winners, and that is who Team USA faces in the semifinal. The other semifinal will be between Canada and Australia. There was disappointment for hosts France after it was narrowly eliminated 19-14 by Canada in the quarterfinals.
