This game likely won’t be a walkover for Team USA, as not only does Serbia have Jokic, arguably the best basketball player in the world right now, they also have three other NBA players on the roster, including Atlanta Hawks 2-guard Bogdan Bogdanovic, and various high-level pros from the European basketball leagues. Even so, USA will be the heavy favorite in this game and in the rest of the tourament considering the talent Team USA has amassed on its current team.

USA features various future first-ballot Hall-of-Famers on the squad, led by four-time NBA MVP LeBron James, who’s looking for his third Olympic gold medal, and another former NBA MVP in Kevin Durant, who’s arguably the best Team USA player at the Olympics ever. Durant will be looking for his fourth gold medal in men’s basketball, which would be a record.
And on top of that talented duo, the Americans boast the likes of naturalized former MVP Joel Embiid, up-and-coming superstar Anthony Edwards, the greatest shooter of all time and two-time NBA MVP Stephen Curry, newly minuted NBA champion Jayson Tatum and other superstar-level players like Anthony Davis.
The only question will be can the team compete intensely enough on defense to make this look as easy as it should be, which was not the case in the team’s exhibitions, as both South Sudan and Germany gave the Americans scares heading into the Olympics, albeit with Durant sitting out to nurse an injury.
One team USA did handle comfortably in its exhibitions was actually Serbia, with the Americans winning easily 105-79, although that was with the Serbians missing Bogdanovic, an important piece as one of the team’s four NBA players.
