The Southern Stars have won three straight World Cups and six of the eight awarded since the tournament began in 2009. The Women in Blue have three straight visits to the semifinals under their belt and five overall, finishing runner-up to Australia at Melbourne in 2020.

India blasted Sri Lanka by 82 runs on Wednesday, 172 and 3 to 90, to improve to 2-1 after losing to New Zealand in its opening match. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur’s 52 runs off 27 balls earned her Player of the Match, while Smriti Mandhana also notched a fifty with 50 runs off 38. Arundhati Reddy and Asha Sobhana took three wickets apiece while bowling.
The Southern Stars lock in a semifinal berth with a win. Australia is 25-8 all time against the Women in Blue and took two of three matches during a tour of India in Pune in early January.
