Kennedy Fuller and the United States will take the pitch against Choe Rim Jong and Korea DPR in a semifinal matchup on Wednesday.
The U-17 of the United States will take on the nation of Korea DPR on Wednesday afternoon at CFC Stadium in Santiago De Losa Caballeros in the Dominican Republic in a semifinal match of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. The United States came out of Group B, finishing No. 2 in the group with a 2-0-1 record. The nation beat Colombia and South Korea while losing its only group stage game to Spain.
Heading to the bracket knockout stage, the United States took on Nigeria in the team’s first game. Nigeria was the winner of Group A, not losing a game against Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, and New Zealand. The United States won 2-0 in that quarterfinal matchup. Kennedy Fuller converted a penalty kick in the 43rd minute to give the USA a 1-0 lead heading into the break. Kimi Ascanio netted the insurance goal in the 74th minute to secure the US’s win at CFC Stadium last weekend.

Korea DPR came out on top of Group C after the group stage. It went 3-0-0 in the group beating England, Kenya, and Mexico in three straight games to advance to the knockout stage. In the quarterfinals, Korea took on Poland, the runner-up in Group D, finishing 1-2-1 with a win only against Zambia in the group.
Korea won the game 1-0 on a quick goal from Choe Rim Jon in the 14th minute. Korea didn’t go on to score another goal, but Poland also couldn’t answer and tied the game despite having shots on target. Korea advances to the semifinals against the USA with the winner advancing to the finals on Nov. 3.
