England will take on Mexico in the U17 FIFA Women’s World Cup at CFC Stadium in Santiago De Los Caballeros, Dominican Republic, on Sunday night. This will be the second match in Group C for both of these teams. England is the No. 2 team in the group after picking up a win in its first game. It 2-0 against Kenya leaving it with a two-goal differential which is just one behind Korea DPR who won its first game 4-1. The game came England’s way from the start forcing a penalty in the 29th minute from Kenya. Lola Brown of England converted the penalty for the game’s first goal. After almost 60 minutes of scoreless, combative soccer, Lauryn Thompson put the game-sealing goal in the net in the 87th minute to win the game 2-0 for England. It will try to solidify it’s way to the knockout stage with another win here today against Mexico.

On the other side of the group of four is Mexico. Mexico took on Korea DPR and lost 4-1 in the first group-stage contest of the World Cup. From the start, Korea held the advantage and dominated the game. Korea scored three times before the 34th minute of the game and put on the brakes for the last 56 minutes.
Mexico picked up its only goal in the 45th minute from Citalli Reyes to at least make the goal differential one better than it could have been since Mexico missed out on all three points. This team will surely need a win in this second game if it hopes to have a chance at the knockout stage with just one more group game after.
