One of the biggest games in Arkansas high school football will see both third-ranked LR Parkview (2-1) and 47th-ranked Hot Springs (1-2) look to get back on track after losses. The Patriots started the season with back-to-back wins to earn their high ranking but fell in their last game to the top-ranked team in the state. That game was a test for the Patriots early in the season to see if they had the potential to be the best team in Arkansas. In that game, they fell short (30-10) and learned a lot about their team. The Trojans started the season with a win, but have dropped two games in a row setting the stage for this as the most important game of the season.

In their two losses, the Trojans have seen a wide range of outcomes. They lost to 36th-ranked Arkadelphia (52-13) in a blowout and then a nailbiter to 41st-ranked Alma (35-32) heading into today.

Overall this season, the Trojans are averaging 26.3 points per game and allowing 31.3 points per game to opponents. In their season-opening win the Trojans were dominant, taking care of 78th-ranked West Memphis 34-7, but since then have allowed 87 points in two losses.

For the Patriots, they are averaging 29.3 points per game and are allowing just 18.6 points per game to opponents. In their wins, they have been utterly dominant with 78 total points and allowed just 26 total points to opponents. Texas high school football features Kennedale looking for its first win against Fort Worth Dunbar today. Watch live free on Fubo.

This season has started off rough for Kennedale (0-4), losing all four games to start the 2024-2025 high school football season. The Wildcats have lost every game by at least 17 points and have struggled to find any rhythm on the offensive end. They take on Fort Worth Dunbar (2-2) who have traded wins and losses through four games. They are coming off a win and look to build some momentum with the first winning streak of the season for the Wildcats. This game is a pivot point for both teams with Kennedale in a position to start the season 0-5 and Forth Worth Dunbar having the opportunity to move to above .500 for the first time in the high school football season.

How to Watch Fort Worth Dunbar vs. Kennedale High School Football today:

Last season, these teams faced off a little later in the season with Kennedale coming out on top with a 14-7 win. That ended a six-game winning streak for Fort Worth Dunbar and sent them into the season without any momentum. Kennedale looks to replicate that defensive effort and earn its first win of the season.

That will be a challenge for Kennedale with an offense that has scored just 42 points through four games and is allowing an average of 38.5 points per game to opponents. In those four games, they have given up at least 33 points in every game while scoring 17, 15, seven and three points on the offensive end.

For Fort Worth Dunbar, trading wins and losses has its point totals almost at dead even. They have scored 118 points (29.5 per game) and allowed 117 points (29.25) to opponents. This will be another test after losing to Kennedale last season for Fort Worth Dunbar to get over .500 for the season.

Don’t miss the premiere of six new episodes of the National Geographic series ‘Defending Europe’ Thursday night.

If you’re into history, Nat Geo has got your back Thursday night with the premiere of new episodes of Defending Europe. The show explores more than 2000 years of European history and how these people defended their homeland. Nat Geo will bring you into their world of what weapons, structures and strategies these Europeans used to defend their countries. The biggest consequence of these actions is getting to see how countries and borders were formed in the territories we know today. From before the Dark Ages, to the present day, Europe has been embattled in conflict. There are very few places that would be an exception to that and these battles have become incredibly influential in building the power structures we know today. Of course, this constant infighting has led to a European Union that hopefully won’t need much of these defense tactics going forward.

A promising start to the new domestic season sees Atletico within reach of the top contenders, with the exception of perfect pace-setter Barcelona, thriving under the management of Hansi Flick.

But while Barca has set the example in attack, Diego Simeone’s restructured defense is once again looking peerless in its own way after conceding just three goals in six outings.

Atleti will look like the perfectly rounded machine if the attack starts to click in kind, with midfielders like summer signing Conor Gallagher having to contribute to the goal count:

The former Chelsea man has scored two goals in Atletico’s last three games and will be one to watch once again at Balaidos, where Celta has looked dominant in its own right.

That being said, Los Rojiblancos will pose a stiffer test than any of Alaves, Valencia or Real Valladolid, each of whom Celta has defeated at every turn on home soil so far this term.

A fourth home win in as many attempts would pull Claudio Giraldez’s men from ninth and level on points with Atleti, though it’s been more than six years since Celta beat this foe in any setting.

After being written off (again), Weston McKennie is proving himself for Juventus

This summer, it looked like Weston McKennie would have to find a new club. Not for the first time, the American midfielder was told he was surplus to requirements at Juventus. A move to FC Cincinnati in MLS was mooted, but once again McKennie has found a role for himself at the Allianz Stadium.

Indeed, McKennie has started Juve’s last two matches and has impressed. The 26-year-old was particularly eye-catching in the Champions League victory over PSV in which he found the back of the net. New manager Thiago Motta has been won over by the versatility and skill set of the USA international.

Motta placed an emphasis on rebuilding Juve’s midfield over the summer. Douglas Luiz was signed from Aston Villa with Khephren Thuram also arriving from Nice. Many, however, considered Teun Koopmeiners to be the marquee addition to the midfield unit with the Netherlands international the creative force Juve desperately lacked through the middle last season.

Manuel Locatelli also started the season strongly after becoming a figure of derision at the Allianz Stadium. Motta has refocused the Italian international on the basics and this has resulted in Locatelli looking like the player who shone brightly for the Azzurri when they won Euro 2020. He has been reborn.

With so many top-level players vying to feature in Motta’s new-look midfield, it was widely expected that McKennie would be squeezed out and Juve reported were open to bids for the USA international over the summer. Had the right offer been lodged, McKennie likely would have departed Turin.

It was a similar story for McKennie last season. After returning from an ill-fated loan spell at Leeds United, it was thought the midfielder would be moved on by Juventus. The Serie A club informed McKennie that he would play no part in the 2023/24 season only for the American to start 29 league matches.

Max Allegri deployed McKennie as both a wing back and a wide midfielder depending on the formation being used. In Motta’s new system, though, these positions don’t exist. This was partly why so many believed McKennie would be a peripheral figure under the new Juventus manager this season.

The reality, however, has been very different. Motta has used McKennie in his central midfield unit. This, of course, is where McKennie has played much of his career and operates for the US men’s national team, but few thought he would satisfy Motta’s demands in this position. McKennie is proving his doubters wrong.

While it’s true McKennie doesn’t have the skill set to act as a rhythm builder in possession at the base of the midfielder, his energy and positional awareness has given Juve a different dimension through the centre of the pitch. Motta has given McKennie the freedom to join attacks from deep, as he did for his goal against PSV last week.

To date, Luiz has started just one league match for Juventus since making the summer switch from the Premier League. Motta has justified this by pointing out Luiz’s Copa America duties over the summer and the fact he didn’t have much of a pre-season as a result. This is why Luiz is being held back from the first team.

It is therefore reasonable to assume that Luiz will be in the first team at some point in the near future with Koopmeiners and Thuram also sure to be a big part of Motta’s midfield plan. McKennie still has a lot of work to do to nail down a permanent place in Motta’s strongest lineup, but he has made a habit of succeeding against the odds.

Five storylines to follow in the 2024-25 Europa League season

The 2024/25 Europa League campaign kicks off this week with several big hitters ready to participate in a competition that has grown in stature and prestige over the last few years.

Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Galatasaray, Roma and many other big clubs are aiming to make a run to the final in Bilbao. Here are five storylines to follow throughout the Europa League campaign.

Has Victor Osimhen made Galatasaray genuine contenders?

Galatasaray pulled off arguably the most surprising transfer of the summer window by landing Victor Osimhen on loan from Napoli. The Turkish champions took advantage of a political tug-of-war between the Nigerian striker and the leadership at the Serie A club to add one of the best forwards in the world to their squad.

Okan Buruk’s team are fresh from asserting their domestic dominance in a 3-1 victory over Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce in the Intercontinental Derby on Saturday and have the attacking talent to make their mark on the Europa League after failing to qualify for the Champions League group stage. Osimhen’s signing could supercharge them.

Would Europa League glory prove Man Utd are making progress?

Manchester United don’t want to be in the Europa League. The Old Trafford club expects to qualify for the Champions League every season and so it’s possible Erik ten Hag and his players could prioritise other competitions. A 1-1 draw to FC Twente in their opening match did little to dispel this notion. However, winning the Europa League would surely help ten Hag prove United are making progress under his stewardship.

Under ten Hag, Manchester United have struggled for an identity, but there have been some signs of improvement in this regard this season. While the 3-0 defeat to Liverpool was damaging, the Old Trafford outfit have at least attempted to construct possession sequences and grow more comfortable on the ball. Europa League glory could be a welcome distraction from their Premier League struggles.

How will Roma fare after the firing of Daniele De Rossi?

Roma made the decision to fire Daniele De Rossi after just four games of the new season. While those four games had been difficult, many believed the former midfielder should have been given more time to turn around the situation with supporters now targeting the ownership and board for showing so little faith in a club legend.

Ivan Juric has been hired as De Rossi’s replacement and started life as Roma manager with a comfortable 3-0 win over Udinese. The summer transfer window was an impressive one for the Stadio Olimpico club with Matias Soule and Artem Dovbyk both joining. Paulo Dybala’s decision to stay in Italy rather than move to Saudi Arabia was also a boost. This talent could still make an impact on the continent.

Could a Europa League run accelerate Ajax’s rebuild?

Ajax have gone through a few difficult seasons. Francesco Farioli was appointed by the Amsterdam club over the summer after a successful 2023/24 campaign at Nice and has been charged with remoulding and rebuilding the Dutch giants. Under Farioli, Ajax have made a strong start to the season, losing just once in all competitions.

Wout Weghorst joined Ajax from Burnley in the summer and reflects how Ajax are now playing a more direct game than they traditionally have done in the past. Farioli was a pragmatist as a coach during his time at Nice and he has carried that into his new job in the Netherlands. A run in the Europa League could accelerate Ajax’s progress.

Will things come together for Ange Postecoglou and Spurs in the Europa League?

Tottenham Hotspur have endured a challenging start to the season. Indeed, Spurs have won just two of their five opening league fixtures, but Ange Postecoglou remains bullish on his team’s chances of success. The Australian coach has reminded his critics that he has won a trophy in every second season in his managerial career.

Dominic Solanke scored his first goal as a Tottenham player in the 3-1 win over Brentford on Saturday while James Maddison looks more like the player who hit the ground running after joining from Leicester City last season. It’s certainly not beyond the realms of possibility that Postecoglou’s second season prediction could come true in the Europa League.

The Europa League season gets up and running for Rangers and Malmo as they collide in Sweden on Thursday.

Scottish superpower Rangers has a score to settle against Malmo when the two teams face-off in their Europa League opener on Thursday. The Gers have lost three of their four meetings with the Swedish champion to date and have never managed to get one over on the Scandinavians. They are hoping a taste of revenge can propel their bid for continental glory this season. Each of these clubs just missed out on the opportunity to qualify for the Champions League but will consider themselves among the serious contenders to clinch Europe’s second-tier tournament.

It was only three years ago that Malmo managed to do the double over Rangers in Champions League qualifying, though it turned out to be a blessing in disguise of sorts.

That’s after the Glaswegian giant went on to reach the final of that season’s Europa League, where it ended up finishing as runner-up to Eintracht Frankfurt in Seville.

That being said, Malmo will be no less confident of keeping up its prolific run of form against this opponent and getting off the mark quickly in its bid to claim continental silverware.

The Blue Ones are currently 11 points clear at the top of Sweden’s Allsvenskan with a little more than one month of the season remaining, though their form has started to dip of late.

Henrik Rydstrom’s side has, kept four consecutive clean sheets but has won only two of its last seven outings, including back-to-back defeats to Sparta Prague in the Champions League playoffs.

Rangers has been more dominant domestically and won five of its last games on Scottish soil, although an Old Firm derby defeat to Celtic has left it five points off the pace in the league.

Still, the Europa League will give Philippe Clement’s side a happy distraction, as it looks to return to its former Europa League heights with a manager well-versed in this competition.

The sequel to Everybody Hates Chris will premiere on Comedy Central on Wednesday night with Chris Rock telling new stories of his childhood.

Poor Chris. Everybody still hates him nearly 20 years after the debut of the sitcom that made waves in the mid and late 2000s on UPN and The CW. That show was based roughly on the comedian Chris Rock’s life growing up in Brooklyn, New York played by Tyler James Williams. While this new show, premiering on Wednesday on Comedy Central, doesn’t stray too far from that premise at all, the way it is presented certainly does. That is because this new edition will be animated. The showrunner of Everybody Still Hates Chris, Sanjay Shah, described why they chose to make this new show animated. Shah describes the much fuller possibilities that animation brings to the characters. That includes the 80s setting and exploring more of Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood that Rock grew up in. The opportunities seem much more boundless and will have something new to say nearly two decades after the original. Shah has a lot of experience with animation too being the executive producer and co-showrunner of Central Park on Apple TV+.

Thankfully Rock is returning as the narrator, as he did in the original. Terry Crews, who played Rock’s father, and Tichina Arnold, who played his mother, will also be returning to the cast. A big difference this time around will be Tim Johnson Jr. providing the voice of Young Chris, as Williams is taking over on Abbott Elementary.

The original show only lasted four seasons, so there are plenty more stories to tell and will leave off right where that show ended.

Minnesota built its lead in the first period with balanced scoring around a monster start from the MVP runner-up Napheesa Collier. Every starter scored and dished out an assist with the team shooting 12-for-20 from the field, 4-of-9 from three and ending the period with 11 assists on 12 made baskets.

The balance around Collier is what gave Minnesota the second-best record in the league this season and makes them a championship contender. Kayla McBride (21 points) and Bridget Carleton (12 points) stressed the defense from three, Courtney Williams (nine points, eight assists and four steals) controlled the pace and Alana Smith (seven points and three blocks) sealed the win with back-to-back blocks in the final seconds.

Collier finished with a career-best and franchise playoff record of 38 points in the win on just 19 shot attempts. She was dominant all game and helped close out the win with eight of her points in the final quarter on 2-of-3 shooting from the field and 4-of-5 from the free throw line. Collier was nearly the unanimous runner-up for MVP and in most other seasons would have won the award.

Last season the show featured 81 contestants that dueled each week for the opportunity to win a $250,000 prize. Season one saw the highs and lows of controlling the floor each week with Jacquelyn coming out as the inaugural winner. She managed to win the season after dueling once in week two, then sitting quiet in the corner while the rest of the contestants knocked each other out, leaving her with just the final duel against Arthur in “Fashion Icons” to conquer The Floor.

In that season there were topics ranging from “Fashion Brands” to “Veggies,” “Sports Equipment” to “Junk Drawer Items” and everything in-between. The categories are broad and niche, depending on the contestants expertise and confidence in carrying that topic to a $250,000 payday.

Be careful which topic you choose and who you pick to duel on The Floor, because that topic is used just once and is replaced with the topic from the contestant that is defeated in that duel. Who is going to come out on top this in season of The Floor?
