    Arizona College Prep has been on a mission since dropping its first game of the season. That game came against Crown Point which wasn’t competitive with the Knights, losing 42-7. That game must have really lit a fire now considering Arizona College Prep has won four games in a row. Not only do the Knights have a nice winning streak going, their offense has been absolutely dominating. The lowest score they’ve had since was a 34-0 blowout against Eastmark. That was a week after Arizona College Prep scored its most points of the season, beating Estrella Foothills 62-28. The Knights are coming off another big win last week against Yuma Catholic, winning 43-29. The win was even more impressive considering it was Yuma’s first loss of the season. The Knights were led by Junior quarterback Evan Heinrich, who went 12-for-16 with 191 passing yards. Expect another big night on offense in a region away game.

Desert Sunrise was only down 13-7 in the first quarter, but Vista Grande started dominating every phase of the game from there on out.

    Vista Grande is looking for a revenge game against Arizona College Prep as the Knights won last season 22-6.

The Riverhawks will be challenged at home against 28th ranked Sky View (5-2), who has won four straight games after a shaky start. The Bobcats started the season with a win, but followed that with back-to-back losses. Both of those losses came to teams ranked in the top 16 today in Morgan and Spanish Fork. The Bobcats have another crack at a top level team while playing their best football of the season.

    During this four-game winning streak the Bobcats have shown an ability to adapt to opponents. They have a 55-point win over Logan and got a 21-14 win over Bear River. In-between those two wins were two shootouts against Mountain Crest (31-28) and Orem (60-59).

    Overall this season the Bobcats are averaging 32.7 points per game and allowing 30.0 points per game to opponents. They have proven the ability to win not only close games and blowouts, but also shootouts and close games where the points are at a premium during this four-game winning streak.

    This will be a special preseason matchup on Thursday night between the Los Angeles Kings and Boston Bruins. This is of course home to the former Quebec Nordiques who moved in 1995 to Colorado to become the Avalanche.     In the meantime, LA is going for its fourth win in a row, including back-to-back wins against their regional rivals in the Anaheim Ducks. The Kings first beat the Ducks 3-2 at home and then went on the road on Monday and won 4-0. Darcy Kuemper was sharp in net for LA, stopping all 23 of Anaheim’s shots. Tanner Jeannot and Akil Thomas each rounded out the offense with a goal and an assist. LA’s only loss this preseason came in overtime against the Utah Hockey Club.

    The Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs are both playing well going into this Thursday night preseason matchup. These Original 6 teams are 3-1-1 and 2-1-1, respectively. Toronto is going for its third win in a row tonight after beating the Montreal Canadiens in a home-and-home series. Before that, the Maple Leafs lost back-to-back games in a home-and-home series against the Ottawa Senators. Toronto first played Montreal at home and beat the Canadiens 2-1.

    Then the Maple Leafs went on the road to play the second game against the Canadiens and came away with the same result, winning 2-1. Toronto won despite only registering 22 shots. Dennis Hildeby was great in net stopping 26 shots and earning the second star of the game. But it was Nicholas Robertson who was the biggest star of the night. He scored both goals for Toronto with the first one coming on the power play in the first period. No one scored in the second and Robertson came in with the insurance scoring early in the third. It was much needed too because Kirby Dach brought Montreal within a goal. But it came with just less than two minutes left in the game and it was too little, too late for Montreal.

    Detroit is also coming off a 2-1 win of its own against the Pittsburgh Penguins, which has to be one of the most improbable wins of the preseason. Detroit goalie Ville Husso was easily the biggest star of the night because Detroit was heavily outshot 44-19. Rickard Rakell of the Penguins scored the first goal of the game early in the second, but the Red Wings responded just over a minute later with their first goal scored by Amadeus Lombardi.

    The game was tied well into the third period when Nate Danielson scored the game winner. We might be in for another goalie showdown here tonight in Detroit.

The Bobcats are going into their first Sun Belt Conference game of the season. This will be Troy’s second conference game and it is 0-1. After starting off the season 2-0, Texas State has dropped back-to-back games. The Bobcats most recently lost to Sam Houston State in the toughest of fashion. Texas State lost by a single point in a 40-39 final last week. The game seemed over in the first quarter when the Bobcats went up 22-0. Texas State was outscored 21-10 though in the second quarter and the momentum shifted from there. The Bobcats were only able to score seven points in the second half and were shutout in the fourth to allow Sam Houston to complete the improbable comeback. Texas State quarterback Jordan McCloud had a great game nonetheless, throwing for 326 yards and three touchdowns. Jaden Williams collected 133 of those yards and completed his career day with two touchdowns. If the Bobcats are able to keep their offense consistent throughout the game, they should be the favorites to win on the road.

    Troy is 1-4 on the season and is coming off its Sun Belt opener against ULM in a 13-9 final. The Trojans were never able to reach the end zone and were limited to a field goal in the first, second and fourth quarters. The Trojan defense was stout though and were leading to start the fourth quarter. That was until ULM’s Ahmad Henry rushed into the end zone for the game’s only touchdown.

    This is going to be a great battle between the tough defense of Troy and the electric air-raid offense of Texas State.

    During this current four-game losing streak the Blue Raiders are averaging 28.0 points per game. That would be a strong number if not for the fact that they have given up at least 27 points in all four losses for an average of 41.5 points per game to opponents.

In those wins they are putting up 31.25 points per game and are allowing just 13.0 points per game to opponents. They have the opportunity this season to not only make it back to the playoffs, but to also make a deeper run with this hot start.

The biggest new addition is likely to be 19-year-old forward Matvei Michkov, the team’s first-round pick in 2023. His 41 points (19 goals) in 48 Kontinental Hockey League games last season are the second-most by a teenager in that circuit.

Besides Hatton, only Pádraig Harrington has managed multiple wins in the event, taking the crown in both 2002 and 2006.

    The tournament launched in 2001 as a replacement for the Alfred Dunhill Cup, a three-man tournament played at St. Andrews from 1985-2000.     The Arkansas women’s golf team should be feeling confident when heading into the final day of the Blessings Collegiate Invitational on Wednesday. Not only are the Razorbacks essentially in their backyard with this course, which is only 15 minutes away from the campus, but they hold the best score for both the men’s and women’s teams of four-under-par. It helped a great deal that the team set an incredible standard in the first round by shooting nine-under-par. The team wasn’t able to replicate that same pace in the second round, shooting five over. But when the next closest team, BYU, shoots +12 on the day, Arkansas is still able to lead by 22 strokes. Mississippi State rounds out the top three sitting at +20.

    A lot of that tremendous performance from Arkansas has to do with having four players in the top 10. Maria Jose Marin leads all women’s players shooting six-under-par after a +1 on Tuesday. Her teammate Reagan Zibilski is tied for second with Kansas State’s Carla Bernat. Both sit at three-under-par, but Zibilski is the only player to shoot under par on both days of the tournament. This is the hometown team’s match to lose heading into the final day.
