NASCAR Cup Series

The NASCAR Cup Series is the premier racing championship of the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR). Starting in 1949, the Cup Series consists of 38 races across the United States and Canada. The series run from February to November and participates in races on oval tracks, road courses, and street courses. Additionally, the Cup Series competes in the All-Star Race. Popular races include the Daytona 500, Coca-Cola 600, and the Brickyard 400. The season is split into three stages: regular season, playoffs, and Championship 4. The top 10 drivers and two provisional drivers for the regular season who have amassed the most points compete in the playoffs which consists of three rounds - Round of 16, Round of 12, and Round of 8. Then finally, the top four drivers in the standings compete for the championship title at the season finale. All playoff participants who participate until the Championship 4 are awarded with playoff points. Historically, the dominant teams of the NASCAR Cup Series include Dale Earnhardt Inc., Hendrick Motorsports, Richard Childress Racing, and Stewart–Haas Racing, with some legendary drivers such as Richard Petty, Jeff Gordon, and Dale Earnhardt. In 2020, the defending Champion is Joey Logano from Team Penske and popular drivers include Kyle Busch, Chase Elliott, and Martin Truex Jr. Today, the NASCAR Cup Series is a popular sport with an estimated 75 million viewers each weekend and is considered to be one of the most competitive racing series in the world. Over the course of the 71 year history, there has been some incredibly closely contested championship races and we look forward to future years filled with excitement and competition.
